Every Sunday we sing words that come from different centuries and cultures and theological traditions. We sing the experiences of people beside us and people who died long before us. We try on metaphors. We borrow prayers. We carry one another’s testimonies. And somewhere along the way, a song becomes ours without us even realizing it.
