Churches have been part of the American myth-making machine since colonial settlers stepped foot on the continent. White theologians and pastors over the centuries created theologies justifying white supremacy. So it’s only fitting and just that churches (esp. majority white churches like ours) are part of the truth-telling and myth UN-making of our shared history so we can make a path toward healing. Today we tell the story of Juneteenth and why it’s important to celebrate.
