The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a central theme in the book of Acts. As followers of Jesus were busy debating who could be baptized into the community of faith, Pentecost provided a radical and, for some, unsettling answer: all who are seeking connection with God can be baptized into God’s Holy Spirit. What began as a closed religious community was suddenly, by the power and prompting of the Holy Spirit, transformed into an ever-growing, ever-diversifying movement that continues to this day.
